Art for Health

There is a strong connection between creativity and health.  In fact, studies have shown that engaging with the arts can help patients manage pain and alleviate stress and anxiety (source: ArtsHealth Centre for Research and Practice).

This comes as no surprise to local artist, and Edges Art and Framing proprietor, Tanya Spence.

“I am often hearing positive stories about the therapeutic benefits of expressing yourself through art.”

Edges supplies a wide range of quality artist materials, to suit the beginner or  the professional artist.

“It’s so much more than dropping in to buy your paint,” says Tanya.  “We have created a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where ideas can be shared and new techniques explored.”

It’s rare these days to find business owners who are truly passionate about what they do.  But for Tanya, this is obviously so much more than a business.

In her quiet but confident way, Tanya encourages artists to take their talent to new heights.

“I enjoy the privilege of being part of the artist’s journey.  We see them when they come in for a blank canvas and then we see them again when they proudly bring their creation in for framing.”

An exhibition of the diversity and depth of artistic expression adorns the walls of Edges, including artists like Lyn Cramb, Charlie Chambers and Ted Young.

Perhaps you have had your creative talent hiding away for a while?  Why not drop into Edges for some supplies and inspiration. After all, it’s good for your health!
