Genuine Quality | Condamine Electric Company

While some businesses baulk at the thought of a ‘Quality Assurance’ system, Condamine Electric Company has taken a practical approach to QA that has resulted in positive benefits for the electrical contractor’s customers and team.
CEC recently attained the esteemed international standard of AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008.
“It’s a great certification to have, but it’s more than that. It has set us up to measure everything we do,” says Quality Assurance Manager Sarah Hall.
Managing Director Gavin Walton was enthusiastic about going down the QA path.
“The certification will help us sell our capabilities when tendering for jobs, but the main driver for us was business improvement.  How do we know that our customers are happy? You need to collect that data, actually look at it and work out how to make it better.”
All of CEC’s 35 team members can get involved by completing Improvement Action Reports.
“They’ve really taken it on board and can see that we are committed to following up ideas,” says Gavin.
Sarah stressed that QA is focused on enhancing customer satisfaction and “turning negatives into positives.”
“One of our guys recently came up with a different way to approach a job that saved the client money.
"We set benchmarks and have checks built in the system so we can go back later to see if the changes are working.”
Sarah’s passion for QA shatters preconceptions about it being arduous.
“This is an excellent tool to help businesses to grow.  While not all businesses need official accreditation, it’s important to have formal and informal processes in place to keep improving.”
