Library media lounge connects community
Do you have stories of remarkable travel adventures or fascinating family history?
You now have the chance to record your personal stories for public viewing in the Dalby Wambo Library’s new media lounge.
Library manager Sylvia Marshall says the media lounge is enhancing the library’s role as a communication hub and sharing real-life events was just one of many opportunities being delivered to the community by the new facility.
“There’s a lot of interest in community story telling and people often have wonderful photos, videos and accounts of things that happened to them or their families. The media lounge is a great way to share those terrific narratives.
“We live in an information age, and here at the library we are information specialists. Our aim is to bridge the technology barrier and help people communicate.
“We want the media facility to be community-orientated providing the latest technological resources for everyone to enjoy.”
Dalby youth were one of only four groups throughout Australia to secure the $40,000 Foundation for Young Australians grant which funded the new media facility.
The room is bursting with media opportunities for all ages from live pod casting of lectures and seminars to real time streaming of book club discussions and interviews with authors.
The media room is equipped with the latest Play Station 3 games complete with wireless controllers, sound dispersal dome and wide screen TV.
Visitors to the media lounge can play online games with people in other towns or post cherished photos on the national Pictures Australia photographic archive site to become part of Australian history |
