Escape the crowds and computers
Successful, experienced and passionate … that’s the staff at Dalby Fishing and Camping World on Drayton Street.
As Overall Winner of the Retail Category, Business Excellence Awards 2007 and a finalist in the Camping World Store of the Year 2007, Alison and Steve Gordon have the equipment for both devotees and novices to camping and fishing.
Their stock includes hard-to-find items such as dream pots, cobbs and toilet chemicals for caravanning to more sought-after items like water coolers, fly veils, eskies, tarps, poles and pool cleaners. Chlorine and tents have been in demand this year while fishing gear and bait remain popular.
The Gordons strive to ensure their prices are competitive with larger outlets and a national warranty allows travellers to use Camping World outlets country-wide.
They themselves caravanned around Australia for two years before taking over what Alison calls the “happiness business" three years ago.
“People come in here excited and happy about going on their holiday,” she says.
“Camping provides a cheaper, technology-free option for families. It can also give children a tremendous sense of community and tradition.
“While luxury gear is available, bush camping is ultimately what this form of holidaying is about.”
Gift ideas are plentiful in Camping World so watch out for the Summer Catalogue due out in November and the Christmas Catalogue due early December. |
