Sustaining agriculture through education
As agriculture becomes increasingly diverse and high-tech, the Australian Agricultural College Corporation is providing training options designed to accelerate career advancement within this exciting industry.
The Dalby campus is one of five located throughout Queensland offering a wide range of courses covering many facets of food and fibre production.
Dalby campus manager Bill Callaghan believes quality training that balances theory and practice is an important factor in successful rural management.
“Education is about raising the bar and those in the industry who are doing this are doing well.
“There’s a lot to learn about sustainable production and students learn this both in the lecture room and through hands on practical experience,” he said.
The college offers certificate and diploma courses ranging from basic training that provides entry into the workforce to specialist courses in feedlotting and rural business.
“The courses prepare students for careers within a diverse range of agricultural support industries such as business consultancy, dealerships, marketing and machinery fabrication.
“We offer flexibility to ensure we capture all those people looking for training within agricultural industries including school and work based traineeships.”
The Dalby campus facilities are also available to the wider community for conferences or workshopping and include a 100 seat raised lecture theatre, internet access, whiteboards, projectors, seminar rooms and catering.
“The door is always open to anyone wanting to come and browse the facilities and learn about what we have to offer.” |
