A day in the life of a shop-a-holic
Oh, how I love to shop. So when a friend suggested we spruce ourselves up for a full day of retail therapy I was more than happy to oblige.
So where are we off to? Toowoomba, Brissy, the coast? “Dalby,” she replies.
Ok then. Let’s just see what this ‘modern country’ town has to offer.
First stop – fashions (of course!). What a fantastic range – trendy looks, designer-wear, affordable prices and wide ranging sizes. Now the proud owner of a new outfit, I’m on the hunt for accessories. What luck! Dalby has a great choice in shoes, handbags, and jewellery.
Everywhere we go, people are happy to help. Not in a pushy way, just with a friendly smile and a genuine desire to lend a hand.
Enough shopping for me, I have a few gifts to pick up. For my brother, there’s a choice of electronic goods and hardware stores, or perhaps he’d like camping gear, fishing tackle, new clothes, or maybe something for his car?
So many choices, my head is spinning! My friend and I decide to take a break for coffee and cake. Even that means more fabulous choices!
As we chat over coffee, we take some photos of ourselves on the new digital camera my friend just purchased. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get a print and have it framed? No worries, there’s a few places to do that too.
Now something special for Mum – perhaps a piece of artwork, an antique, a scrapbooking gift, a new novel, a piece of furniture, bed linen, perfume, fresh flowers, a plant or garden supplies, kitchenware, or fabric. For my niece, I ponder between CDs, a computer program, a musical instrument, a pair of sunnies, surf clothes, sports gear, a bicycle, some toys, and a goldfish!
Look at the time! We stop for lunch – and have to choose between the great selection of cafes, pubs, fast-food joints, and restaurants. City menus with country prices, what more could we ask for?
After a delicious feast, we take the opportunity to test drive a new car! Next we browse through the discount and department stores, stop by the pharmacy, pick up a few groceries, health foods, fresh bread, fruit and veg, and visit the butchers.
It’s been a busy day, so we set off to spoil ourselves with some pampering. I indulge in a pedicure at one of Dalby’s beauty clinics, while my friend enjoys a new “do” with one of the trendy hair stylists.
Oh no! The sun is dropping on the horizon, and there is still so much more in Dalby to explore. Can’t wait to come back and do it all again tomorrow! |
