Western Goods with a Country Smile Opens in Dalby
Western Traders 124 had its humble beginnings in Jandowae three years ago and quickly grew to a booming internet-based equine business, attracting customers from across Australia.
Space restrictions led to the need to find larger premises, and so the team recently branched out from cyberspace and launched a shop-front in Dalby.
According to owner Dale Dolley, there is no need to travel to the city to find great bargains.
“Containers of good quality horse gear are ordered regularly, allowing us to offer internet shopping prices to the local market.”
Watch the Western Traders 124 team - Dale, Kara and Jo - chat away with customers and it’s easy to see that they have a knack for understanding people’s needs.
“We’ve been known to talk people out of buying something,” Dale says. “We know what it can be like making ends meet, so we won’t try and sell someone something they don’t need.”
It’s this frankness and good old-fashioned service that has made the business so popular with pony clubs, camp drafters, horse studs, feedlots and even drovers passing through town.
Since opening in Dalby, the team has been “flat out” selling horse blankets, saddle cloths, saddles, swags and horse accessories.
Dale has searched the world for the right quality at the right price. And if she can’t find the product she wants, she’ll design it herself. The swags, which are fantastic value at $195 for a swag and bag set, are designed by Dale and her family.
“My daughter has done a lot of camping, so we designed water-proof, light-weight swags and gave them a deep gusset so they can comfortably hold a doona or extra blankets.”
But it’s Western Traders 124’s unique gift range that really has people talking. The sculptures, paintings, and figurines have to be seen to be truly appreciated. There’s also a great selection of leather wallets, belts and key rings.
If you’re shopping for gifts or horse gear, you’ll be sure to ride off into the sunset with just the right thing from Western Traders 124.
