Dalby Camping World has added another trophy to their mantelpiece after winning the National Store of the Year 2008/09 award from their parent company.
Owners Steve and Alison Gordon were both surprised and humbled by the prize presented to them at Camping World’s annual store conference in May.
“We’ve had our best year on record in terms of sales and while we’ve all worked really hard to achieve that result while offering our customers great service, the award still came as an incredible shock,” Alison says.
“It’s easy to get caught-up in the day-to-day management of a busy store and overlook the progress you’ve made.”
Dalby Camping World was judged as deserving the award based on mystery shoppers’ experiences, effective marketing of the brand, staff conduct and support of the buyers’ group.
“Part of the prize includes funding for professional development of our staff which will improve our business even further,” Alison says.
The team were equally proud when they were announced as a finalist for the Store of the Year in 2007 after taking out the Retail Category in the Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Business Excellence Awards that year.
Alison believes one of the keys to their business success is their commitment to treating the first customer of the day the same way as the very last one through the door, with a consistent and genuine smile.
