Emma's a real gem

Emma Lam has gathered an impressive 'extended family' in her 20 years helping to run Jade Court Chinese Restaurant, with husband Gordon and business partners Daniel and May Lowe.

Welcoming new and familiar faces to Jade Court is what Emma enjoys most and seeing them leave the restaurant happy, with appetites content gives her great satisfaction.

"I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. We've hosted trade delegates and industry representatives from Asia, Indonesia, China, Mongolia, Japan, Canada, and America. We also meet a lot of overseas travellers, particularly Europeans," explains Emma.

And then there are the Jade Court regulars, not all of whom are strictly locals!

"We have people from Brisbane who travel to Dalby every few weeks to enjoy the country environment for the weekend and they dine with us both nights.

"We've built a great relationship with our customers, so it's like having friends come visit," said Emma.

Jade Court patrons expressed their appreciation of Emma's excellent customer service by nominating her for a Chamber of Commerce Exceptional Service Award.

"People are proud to have a long established restaurant like Jade Court in town. Emma and the team always deliver great food in a pleasant atmosphere and their table service is excellent. It's a popular place to take family and friends because you know they won't be disappointed," said Chamber of Commerce Promotions Officer Julie Burrows.

As for Emma, she's happy to continue sharing the cuisine and culture of Hong Kong with her extended family of customers and friends.
