Building Partnerships

Supporting and nurturing young people has always been important in Dalby.
Some eight years ago, it was becoming apparent that organisations were struggling to find an appropriate venue to meet.  At the time there was nowhere readily available to house visiting providers, including counsellors and services for young people and families. This growing need for specialised youth services prompted members from Council, the local Police and other interagency groups to band together to take action. A safe and welcoming space was needed, somewhere where services could be accessed and the community could call its own.
From this idea, a seed was planted, flourished and grew. Last December an emotional ‘sod turning’ ceremony took place to mark the construction of a new multi-million dollar purpose-built network centre.  The building will be located on the corner of Nicholson and Drayton Streets, continuing the services currently provided out of the facility at Iona and much more.
“It is a dream come true. The centre has been collaboratively inspired and designed and will become a hub of activities where everyone is welcome,” reflects Carolyn Tillman, Councillor and founding member of the project.
Due for completion in the first half of this year, it will accommodate nine private offices, a  consulting room for visiting health providers, common reception area, community art display area, internal courtyard, two large open plan offices for permanent tenants, community computer room and large conference room.
