Local Pride
When Michael Webber moved back to Dalby in 1994 it was like “coming home”.
Although Michael was born in Dalby he moved away at age 16 to launch his career in banking.
“Over the years, my family lived in many different towns and cities, but coming back to Dalby just felt right.
“In Dalby we have everything we could ever want. I truly believe that it’s a welcoming community. It’s not like other places where you have to be there for 40 years before you can be called a local. In Dalby, if you want to get involved in anything from business, sport, service clubs…you’ll be grabbed with open arms.”
As branch manager of Dalby Rabobank, president of Dalby Leagues Club, Dalby Chamber of Commerce Management Committee member, board member for Surat Basin Corporation, Council Member for SQIT, Advisor for AACC and participant in the Welcoming Community project, Michael certainly knows how to get involved.
“Dalby’s the kind of place where you walk up the street and every second person says g’day.”
It’s this genuineness that Michael believes sets Dalby apart from other towns.
He’s experienced first-hand the generosity and hospitality of local organisations.
“Almost every week you’ll hear about local businesses and clubs giving to others in need.”
Michael has always been vocal about shopping locally, especially through his role with the Dalby Chamber where he holds the prestigious title of life member and was president for five years.
“You really can buy almost anything in Dalby, the service is better and you are always looked after.”
So take a leaf out of Michael’s book - show your local pride, get involved in your community and enjoy the rewards. It’s all about locals supporting locals.
