Tales of the Sales

For Fitzsimmons Real Estate the last four decades have been filled with change, growth, interesting characters and a tale or two.
Fitzsimmons Real Estate was established in 1969 when Bill Fitzsimmons purchased an existing real estate business from the late Fred Higginbotham. And 42 years later Fitzsimmons is still growing.

In the early days the team consisted of Bill, a rural salesperson and a receptionist trading from a small office in Cunningham Street. The growing business was relocated to Archibald Street in 1987 and in 2009 moved to modern premises on Condamine Street.
Now three generations of the family work in the business including Michael and Andrew Fitzsimmons and Andrew’s daughter Shonnie. The team specialises in house and land sales, rural sales, clearing sales, property management and valuations in the Dalby District.
“We’ve seen a lot of changes in our time but the emphasis on customer service remains,” says Bill.

The computer era has changed the relationship between buyer and agent. Sales are even made where the only contact is via email.
Hundreds of clearing sales have gone under the Fitzsimmons hammer producing some memorable days.  Whether in the dead of winter, in the middle of summer or the pouring rain, the sale must go on.

“On more than one occasion, we’ll be selling gear and a snake will appear out of it,” says Bill. “And I’ll never forget the interesting character with bare feet and scraggy clothes who stood in the front row and put the winning bid on a $40,000 tractor and paid cash on the spot.”

Tales aside, Fitzsimmons Real Estate is looking forward to being a part of Dalby’s future for a long time to come.
