Compassion for Creatures Great and Small

With a good dose of compassion, an affinity for rural life and a recognition that being a vet is not a cosy nine-to-five job, the team at Knox Veterinary has been making a difference to the well-being of animals for over 50 years.

The Knox Vet team agree that each day is amazing with no day ever expected or the same. “We see all emotions on a daily basis - we laugh, cry, love and hurt,” says local vet Jemma Postle.

The practice was founded in the 50s by Bruce Wilson, with Jim Knox becoming a partner in 1969 and taking the reins in 1975. Jemma joined as a business partner in 2007.

Knox Vets has had a long association with large production animals including cattle and sheep and the local horse industry - racing, stock and sports.  In more recent years, there’s been a significant increase in companion animal services - surgery and preventive health care for those smaller animal friends.

The team, located in Dalby’s former Wambo Council building, takes their dedicated service far and wide including day clinics in Tara, Meandarra, Cecil Plains and Maclagan. There are five veterinarians and additional support personnel and Jemma makes special mention of Gary Carey who has been with the practice for 40 years.

“We may have been around for a long time but we have seen and attended to many a different circumstance.  We regularly expand and update our equipment and education continues to make certain our skill set and knowledge remains current. We have a great team culture that supports us to strive for our best and to undertake considerate care.”
