Grain Technology Boosts Efficiency
A massive investment in new technology by a local grain business has significantly increased the efficiency of its operations, easing harvest pressure for growers.
Associated Grain has introduced a range of improvements that are delivering quicker, more reliable handling with greater throughput.
Proprietor Todd Jorgensen said upgrades such as a semi-automatic container loader, new bucket elevator and on-site weighbridge were reducing waiting time for customers.
“We now have greater ability to take grain straight from the header and customers spend less time loading and unloading. All our improvements are designed to handle grain gently so there is no damage. Our new equipment enables us to handle up to 750 tonnes on a peak day and we’ve expanded our on-site storage volume to over 5000 tonnes. “We’ve also tripled the capacity of our splitting plant which allows us greater access to overseas markets. This means local farmers have more outlets for chick peas especially if their crop is weathered,” says Todd.
Associated Grain specialises in niche produce such as chick peas and mung beans as well as handling planting seed bought from Australian farmers and sold to an expanding international clientele.
For over half a century this family-owned business has been employing local people to process, market and export local grain and today this remains the company’s core business.
“We receive a lot of support from local farmers and we are continually working to ensure we deliver trusted service that best meets their needs.” |
