Historic Jimbour comes Alive with Music
Be inspired, be enthralled, be absorbed – a complete music experience awaits when you attend the Queensland Music Festival in Dalby staged at the historic Jimbour House on Saturday, 30 July.
With the collaboration of classical and modernised performances, a diversity of market stalls and the magnificent backdrop of the heritage-listed Jimbour House; the iconic event is renowned to create an extraordinarily enchanting afternoon.
“From the resounding success of the 2009 Opera at Jimbour, this year’s performances are tipped to be even better,” says Doug Henning, Events Coordinator Western Downs Regional Council.
This year’s program will open with the world’s best-loved operatic arias, brought to life by a trio of Australian opera greats: Sara Macliver, Tobias Cole, and James Clayton. Accompanying the trio will be the 170-piece combined Queensland Choir and Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra.
“Visitors from around Australia visit Dalby for this prominent bi-annual event with record crowds in 2009 of 8,500 enjoying the music and atmosphere,” says Doug.
Market stalls operate from 9am and the main performance starts at 2pm.
Admission is free with guests encouraged to pack a blanket and a picnic hamper for a July afternoon of breathtaking splendour. Guests may bring their own picnic, purchase food or wine on the day or pre-order picnic hampers (BYO alcohol and glass bottles are not permitted).
