Anthonys are more than just suppliers of great fabrics and sewing machines - they are specialists in inspiration, technical knowledge and tailored textile design.

Over 80 years ago Anthonys opened as a fabric, manchester and intimates apparel shop also offering an in-house tailoring service.
In 1984 Anthonys custody transferred to early employee and Dalby’s recognised couture master – Lorna Laverty.
“In 1954, when I started my apprenticeship tailoring in Cunningham Street at the age of 15, much of the work was done by hand,” says Lorna.

“Originally new season outfits were developed from magazine ideas with our skills increasing as designs evolved.”
Over the last twenty years Lorna and daughter Tina have enjoyed teaching locals how to imprint their own feelings with fabric through the art of quilting.

“We don’t supply quilt kits - we encourage quilting techniques for individual concepts to be cherished and adored for many years.”
