Quality teamwork key to Ostwald growth
In recent years Dalby has become known for producing business success stories. Now another one is emerging as a familiar face becomes a key player in Queensland’s bustling construction industry.
Civil and earth moving contractors Ostwald Bros. began operations sixteen years ago with one scraper and one employee. Chief Executive Officer of the family owned company, Brendan Ostwald, says they now employ a dedicated team of 200 and have in excess of 100 major pieces of plant and equipment.
The expansion is not only good news for the company but also for the town. “We’ve created jobs for quality staff.” It fact Brendan credits the staff’s motivated teamwork for the company quadrupling its annual turnover in the last four years.
Ostwald Bros.has developed a strong reputation for excellence in a wide range of fields from subdivision developments to highway construction, irrigation installation and bulk haulage. The company is also in the process of opening a new quarry in the Dalby district to add yet another service to their range of products.
In line with the company’s move into new service areas, it has also branched out from its head office at Dalby. Ostwald Bros now has offices in Toowoomba and Moura and will open an office in Brisbane this year.
Brendan says despite the expansion Dalby will always remain a focal point for their business. “It’s the local community that has helped us to be successful and we want to continue to be a vital part of our community.”
Ostwald Bros has maintained a high profile in the town with its excavators and bob cats working down the main street as part of the multi-million dollar shopping centre development.
The company was also involved in the expansion of the Dalby Aged Care facility and a little further out of town have been involved with Alstom in every stage of development of the Braemar power station.
Most recently Ostwald Bros. was selected as an alliance partner with Queensland Department of Main Roads to undertake work on the $50 million upgrade of the Dawson Highway in Central Queensland.
“We’re looking at another year of continued sustainable growth. Another year of having quality employees doing quality work for quality clients.
