Shopping meets success
When Dalby based work-from-home mum Celina Jorgensen decided to make a difference to the environment, she joined forces with a friend and created a fashionable alternative to the ‘green’ shopping bag.
Her quest to eliminate plastic bags has grown into a business success story with over 100 products and distribution networks across the globe.
Celina grew up in Dalby. She spent 14 years in Brisbane and some time in London pursuing a successful advertising and graphic design career. When she and her husband Todd found out they were expecting twins (pictured above), they opted to come ‘home’ to be closer to family and give their girls, now aged five, the opportunity to grow up in the country.
Celina is typical of the new era of Dalby locals – professional and entrepreneurial, and doing it all while enjoying the benefits of our relaxed lifestyle.
Like most women, Celina loves to shop. She admits she was worried that the move back to rural Queensland might mean she’d be cut off from retail pleasure. But the Dalby shopping scene offers so much more than she’d expected.
“I often get asked where I’ve bought something I’m wearing when I’m travelling for work and it’s nice to say it’s from Dalby.
“The range in Dalby is great, and local retailers don’t appear to be afraid to try new products to adapt to the changing needs of the community,” says Celina.
New business owners now stand alongside traditional ‘shopkeepers’ - some of whom have been the foundation of retailing in this town for over 60 years.
Fashion, electrical, sports, cameras, stationery, books, linen, gifts, entertainment, scrapbooking, camping, homeware, fishing, hardware…it’s all in town.
And next time you put all your purchases into an EnviroTrend® shopping bag, you’ll be reminded of the wonderful potential there is to achieve international success right here in Dalby. |
