With more than 3000 young people set to participate in the 2009 Dalby Eisteddfod, the unique showcase of cultural artistic excellence is set to enrich and indulge our community once more.
Thanks to the volunteers of the Dalby Eisteddfod Association Inc. the stage will light up for more than 1000 competing acts in ‘Vocal and Choral’, ‘Piano and Keyboard’, ‘Instrumental’ as well as ‘Speech and Drama’.
President Carolyn Tillman says that the Dalby Eisteddfod, almost forty years young, is a great opportunity for entrants to showcase their talents, gain confidence in performance skills and help with cultural and interactive development.“The Dalby Eisteddfod is about promoting the love of performing arts,” says Carolyn.“Each year the committee is enchanted with the quality, depth and pride of all the performers and in 2009 we look forward to receiving an outstanding number of nominations,” welcomes Carolyn.
Dalby Eisteddfod volunteers are again delighted to be preparing for two inspiring sections. The first to be held May 25 to 30 for ‘Piano and Keyboard’ as well as ‘Vocal and Choral’, followed by the winners concert in the Dalby Great Hall on Monday June 1.
The second section will be held August 3 to 8 for ‘Instrumental’ as well as ‘Speech and Drama’, followed by the second winners concert on Monday August 10.
The Dalby Eisteddfod is a low cost opportunity for our local contestants to compete against others from Toowoomba, Kingaroy, Miles, Warwick, Roma and more.
Each act is expertly evaluated by specialised adjudicators with each contestant receiving a brief critique providing sincere encouragement and helpful feedback to assist in the further development of their art.
For those who have yet to be enthralled by our young performers, you will be delighted by the dedication, respect and great spirit that they bring to the Dalby Eisteddfod.“This is the first stage for many stars and is often where their dreams begin,” beams Carolyn.
Programs outlining the categories for nomination are available from Colour Innovations on Cunningham Street, Dalby. If you would like to help in any way additional volunteers are very welcome. For further details contact Secretary Mrs Rilla Witt on 4662 5215.
