New building marks a new era

An impressive new business and conference centre is adding to Dalby’s reputation as a great place to learn, work and connect.

Last year local firm BMO Accountants made the bold decision to purchase the town’s former ten-pin bowling alley and undertake a major renovation.  Thanks to the support of many local contractors, the building was completed in just over nine months.  And the result has been dramatic.  BMO is now one of the most professionally-outfitted accounting firms west of Brisbane.

Officially opened in February, the complex boasts 35 offices, 16 workstations, six interview rooms, a modern reception area, children’s playroom, a board room, two conference rooms, a contemporary staff room, breakout areas and convenient off-street parking.

But spend some time with the BMO Partners - Peter McKinnon, Adrian Rasmussen, Kelvin Tyler and Michelle McVeigh - and you’ll quickly realise that their stylish new office hasn’t affected the firm’s down-to-earth approach.

Peter said the growth of the business could be attributed to BMO’s strong culture and a genuine interest in people.

“We are really proud of our new building.  We can now bring together modern technology, with our industry knowledge, our values, and our good old-fashioned customer service.”

Add to this BMO’s proactive approach to training and its family-friendly work environment, and the result is an organisation geared for progress.

Technology is everywhere in the new premises.  Each interview room has a wall-mounted flat screen which allows authorised staff to have client information at their fingertips during an interview.  The conference rooms are equipped with the latest audio-visual equipment and interactive whiteboards.

The conference centre is available for hire, and with Dalby so centrally located on the crossroads of four major highways, the partners are confident it will bring business to the region.

BMO has a long history in the Dalby region, dating back to the 1950s.  In 1990, a partnership between Browne, McKinnon and O’Sullivan saw the official beginnings of the business.

Today, with a team of 39, BMO serves clients from across Australia in a range of industries including primary production, manufacturing, hotels, automotive, retail, transport, aviation and professional services.

The partners’ vision is for BMO to become a one-stop-shop for all clients’ business and financial needs.  With financial planning, lending services and business advisory specialists complementing its strong accounting expertise, BMO is well on the way to achieving that goal.
