Home is where the Art is

There’s no need to venture outside Dalby for a fulfilling encounter with art and culture. The Dalby Regional Art Gallery is a treasure right on our doorstep and is guaranteed to keep you entertained with exhibitions changing monthly. The Gallery Committee Chairperson and Exhibitions Coordinator Kath Langton says that visitors will be surprised to see shows varying from local artists’ paintings to world-renowned travelling collections.

“We are privileged to have many of the Queensland Art Gallery’s ‘blockbuster’ exhibitions cycle through Dalby, the latest being “Myth to Modern” bronze sculptures through the ages. Among other memorable collections was the remarkable Arthur Streeton Exhibition from the National Gallery in Canberra.”

The local displays have just as much appeal however, with exhibitions held throughout the year to suit patrons of every age and taste.“One of the most popular regular exhibitions we host is Kids Art On Show, which is being held again in August. Last year two and half thousand people viewed it over the month it was on display.”
Other community favourites include artwork by locals exhibited as part of the Dalby Regional Secondary School Show and by the Bell Art Group, Dalby Potters Inc. and Dalby Quilting and Appliqué Club.

This March, the Gallery will house a special collection by local indigenous artists titled “Parrun Goom”, an exhibition which Kath says is highly anticipated.“The Dalby region is full of extremely talented artists. They’re up there with the best.” The Dalby Regional Art Gallery is run by a team of volunteers who are always willing to welcome new faces as friends.
