Surprise yourself at Cider Gum
Tranquil scenic surroundings and an abundance of fresh regional produce enticed four Melbournians to launch Cider Gum Café & Restaurant at the Bunya Mountains.
Proprietors David and Patricia Wood, Mia DiLeva and chef Graeme Moore saw the potential to create a fine dining experience amid the beauty of this world renowned nature reserve.
With 50 years combined experience in the hospitality industry, they pride themselves on delivering superior service and first-class food.
Adopting the motto, ‘Be prepared to be surprised’, the Cider Gum menu offers modern Australian cuisine infused with native bush flavours – like the Pork Belly Confit with indigenous Davidson plumb, Bunya Nut and sage stuffing – complemented by an impressive list of local wines.
The restaurant adjoins a deck-style café that provides more casual dining where guests can sit back and enjoy an espresso while taking in a view of the majestic Bunya Pines that surround the venue.
And for those tempted to take home a little of this gourmet indulgence, the Cider Gum team also retails their own ‘Pickled Billy Goat’ line of jams, relishes, chutney, jerky, and Bunya nut Pesto.
The Cider Gum Restaurant and Café are part of the larger Bunya Mountain Getaway facility which incorporates a number of fully self-contained family units and holiday homes. There’s also a general store that stocks a comprehensive selection of basic grocery lines.
It’s a popular place to escape the summer heat (the temperature averages 10 degrees cooler). And what better way to spend a winter weekend than beside an open fire in a mountain retreat?
There’s also a myriad of walking trails with stunning vistas and the chance to feed a wide variety of colourful native birds.
Enjoy a day trip from Dalby or stay over to unwind, dine and marvel at this special place.
