Something to smile about

With tooth decay considered one of Queensland’s most serious health problems, there’s never been a better time to focus on your smile.

Regular dental checkups are a vital part of good oral hygiene, but until now getting an appointment in Dalby could mean a three-six month wait.

To help address this need, Paul Renner Dental Services (PRDS) has boosted its practice with two new dentists.

Dr Paul Renner, who has owned the Dalby practice since 1990, said having three dentists is allowing PRDS to offer more appointments.

Paul is a highly respected dentist with more than 26 years experience, is a past President of the Australian Dental Association Qld, supervises clinical work at the University of Queensland (UQ) Dental School, and has served on the Queensland Government Dental Board.

Dr Kathy Baumann has more than 11 years dentistry experience and is a familiar face in Dalby, having worked at PRDS for some 10 years, before spending a year in Tasmania, only to be drawn back to the Dalby lifestyle earlier this year.

The other new member of the team is Dr Renae Philp.  Renae has four years experience working in Brisbane and Longreach and currently teaches one-day-a-week at the UQ Dental School.

Paul said while having more local dentists would help, the key to healthy teeth is to practice good oral hygiene every day at home.

“The old saying still rings true – prevention is better than cure.”
