Engine Australia has its roots right here in Dalby

Fifty years ago Lindsay Sturgess and Brian Myers started Dalby Engine Rebuilders on the western fringe of Dalby to capture business from the west as it headed for the ‘big smoke’.  Now the ‘big smoke’ looks to Dalby.

The initial business grew to include importing and wholesaling of diesel engine parts.  In 1982 Lindsay Sturgess separated the importing and wholesaling part of the business to form Engine Australia.

Engine Australia now ships diesel engine parts nationally and internationally to countries including Canada, USA and New Zealand.

Lindsay’s son Philip Sturgess is now the Managing Director and under his leadership Engine Australia now boasts offices along the east coast in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.  Recently Engine Australia opened its first west coast office in Perth.

Engine Australia employs 40 staff, with 20 of them located here in the Dalby head office.  Inventory Manager David French has been with Engine Australia since 1981 and says, “The continued growth of the company keeps the job interesting and very enjoyable.”
