BOOM TIME IN DALBY

"Never in Dalby's history has there been a period of growth like that which has occurred in the last two years. Already we've seen a major hospital redevelopment, a new shopping centre and around 1,000 newly subdivided blocks of land and more is still to come with earthworks at the $100m ethanol plant now underway along with the construction of a 50,000 head feedlot.

The town's economic boom is underpinned by its agricultural productivity and its abundant natural gas and thermal coal reserves. The implications of this rich diversity of resources for Dalby are immense. Billions of dollars will be spent on energy developments in this region over the next 20 years as long as global demand continues.

The challenge for Dalby Town Council is to ensure the town is well placed to share in the wealth of our region with a rich economic and cultural mix, first class amenities, and a lifestyle second to none."    Report by Cr Carl Milford.
